Warta Kema–This year’s Halloween will end with Guillermo del Toro’s very own version of ‘Frankenstein’. Adapted from the famous Gothic classic novel with the same name, Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ was released on November 7th, 2025. Del Toro’s adaptation is definitely anticipated by most horror and thriller movie enthusiasts, despite the numerous versions of ‘Frankenstein’ that have been previously released.
Guillermo del Toro had once brought a classic book to a movie before ‘Frankenstein’. His interpretation of ‘Pinocchio’ received great reviews from viewers. The success of ‘Pinocchio’ propelled del Toro into mainstream fame, growing anticipation from movie fans alike for further adaptations from the Mexican director. Other than del Toro’s success on his previous works, his version of ‘Frankenstein’ is “incredibly emotional”, as he said at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Reviews of ‘Frankenstein’ are both positive and negative, though ‘Frankenstein’ has received more positive reviews than negative reviews. A fan commented on Letterboxd on how Guillermo del Toro packed the movie into a “big-screen-worthy movie”. While one of the negative reviews commented on more of the production work, camera work, and CGI. Still, the movie received an average rating of 3.9 on Letterboxd.

Aside from its rating on Letterboxd, ‘Frankenstein’ has received an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival and shows in selected theaters. ‘Frankenstein’ is now available to watch worldwide on Netflix. Can it be the best movie to end Halloween?
