Warta Kema – On Friday (30/05/2025), Taylor Swift announced that she now owns her masters back. The news was posted on her social media, with Taylor being overjoyed in the picture that now she can reclaim her first six albums from Big Machine.

“All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me…,” said Taylor in her letter regarding her master’s.

This saga started way back in 2019 when Scooter Braun bought Big Machine through Ithaca Holdings, which owned the first six Taylor Swift albums. This gives Taylor zero chance to reclaim her albums, as they have already been sold to Shamrock Capital.

Dina, a student at Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Public Health, explained how she became a Swiftie after a classmate introduced her to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” in elementary school, which sparked her to get to know more about Taylor Swift.

Dina criticized Taylor’s battle to reclaim control of her songs with former manager Scooter Braun as terribly unfair, pointing out how Taylor was forced to re-record her albums to do so.

Dina stated that true fans can tell the difference between the original tracks and Taylor’s new versions, and she expressed excitement for future release, expecting that Taylor will soon release “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” as well as exclusive “The Vault Tracks”. Dina believes Taylor’s persistence in the face of professional challenges has only enhanced the singer’s bond with her fans.

To regain ownership of her album, Taylor Swift embarked on a historic mission to re-record her original six albums. She has released four re-recorded albums – known as “Taylor’s Version” consisting of Fearless, Speak Now, RED, 1989, and dozens of bonus tracks and supplementary material value of the originals.

All that is left is her 2017 hit album, Reputation, and her 2006 self-titled debut that remains unreleased in its re-recorded form. Taylor admitted there has been some delay while recreating Reputation. However, she confirmed that her debut album has been recorded and may be released “when the time is right”.

To say that Taylor now fully owns her master’s is a testament to her great dedication and the journey that has inspired many other artists who want to have control over their work. Her journey isn’t easy because she must put in her blood, sweat, and tears. But now she can finally depart from the great war and say that her music is now fully hers.
